The river Thames is almost 346 kilometres and it is the SECOND (TWO) longest river in Great Britain. It FLOWS (FLOW) through London, and it's this part of the river that most tourists see. But there is MORE (MUCH) in the Thames than just a trip down the river. The Romans built a settlement on the river Thames and over the five centuries it GREW (GROW) into the City of London with a huge port. Ships from around the world BROUGHT (BRING) food, goods and PEOPLE (PERSON) to the capital. A huge amount of money has been invested in this riverside area and now it IS KNOWN (KNOW) as 'Docklands'. The old warehouses are now attractive apartments. There are new office centres, and leisure FACILITIES(FACILITY) , too. People enjoy LIVING (LIVE) by the river.
