The Castle of The Counts in Ghent, Belgium, can be traced back to the TENTH (TEN) century. First, there WAS (BE) a timber construction. Later, the whole construction WAS REPLACED (REPLACE) by the stone one. It was a strong and luxurious residence for the Count's royal household with monumental stone staircases, lightwells, wall-mounted fireplaces and also a base for the Count's army. The Castle was the central point for receptions and FESTIVITIES (FESTIVITY) . The Count received all important PEOPLE (PERSON) and accepted gifts at ceremonial assemblies. He also ORGANISED (ORGANISE) large banquets on such occasions. There IS (BE) still much to experience there even today. More than 300,000 visitors GO(GO) there each year. Public events like the Castle Festival and the Winter Wonder Castle and also weddings, birthday parties and workshops ARE HELD (HOLD) there nowadays.
