Test 22

Professor Higgins is interested in language and accents. When he meets Eliza Doolittle in a London street, he DOES NOT SEE (NOT SEE) just a poor flower-seller; he hears an interesting London accent. In THOSE (THAT) days - the FIRST (ONE) half of the 1900s - accents were MORE IMPORTANT (IMPORTANT) than they are today. Poor PEOPLE (PERSON) with strong local accents never mixed with the rich with 'good' accents. The professor asks HIMSELF (HE) : can he teach a girl like this to speak differently? Can he teach her to be a lady? The PROFESSOR'S (PROFESSOR) friend Colonel Pickering thinks it's impossible. He is so sure that he MAKES(MAKE) Higgins an offer: if Higgins can change Eliza into a lady, Pickering WILL PAY (PAY) for all her lessons.
